This snack is very popular in Peru and it is known as “Canchita” which is chulpe corn. A lot of restaurants and bars serve this snack as restaurants in USA serve bread. I get this product online. There is an online website called http://www.labodegaperuana.com that I use to buy my ingredients from Peru. I also heard you can buy it in Hispanic stores but I haven’t really looked for them inside a store.
INGREDIENTS:
8 – 16 oz of Chulpe corn (depending how much you want to make)
3 Tablespoons of vegetable oil
Salt to taste
PREPARATION:
Heat the vegetable oil in a sauce pan at medium heat. Add the chulpe corn and cover. Cook for 7-10 minutes. Move the pan regularly with the lid on so the corn toasts evenly. Turn off, add salt, allow to cool and enjoy.
